Estrogen – Not Doing Any Good On Skin

skincare3Skin treatments that use hormones such as estrogen are quite effective if use is based on proper medical advice. Estrogen on sun damaged skin is not at all effective meaning people are simply sending the money they spend on these sometimes expensive skin care products, literally down the drains. Skin that is chronically exposed to the sun say extremely sun-damaged skin can often turn malignant such as in the many skin melanomas we see each and every year. Research has identified the gene and protein that is responsible for the said transformation of normal healthy skin cells into malignant and quite ugly ones.
Hormones are getting quite a lot of attention due to their possible abilities to disrupt the normally proper growth of skin and the regeneration process especially during pregnancy when women experience a sudden surge and ebb of hormones as the child develops.
There is still a lot of discussion left between the two camps, one saying it has nothing to do with the whole skin thing the other sating there is indeed a big link. Better understanding of the way certain proteins and hormones interact with each other and the way they stimulate the human skin may hold the key, the gene that is responsible for cancer cells to turn malignant being now known time will tell if we could indeed tame the worldwide scourge known as skin cancer.
