A history of pageants
The crowning of Mayday “kings” and “queens” is considered a time-old tradition in ancient Europe. It was in the 1850’s when the idea was brought to light by a certain P.T. Bamum in America, but it was only in 1921 when the first Miss America Pageant was held in Atlanta City. And the rest, as we say, is history!
